Description

These ‘Disabled refuge point signs’ are from a range of emergency escape signs for the disabled. The ‘Disabled refuge point signs’ are designed to inform of the location that disabled personnel should assemble in the event of a fire. The ‘Disabled refuge point signs’ assist the safe evacuation of the physically disabled in the event of an emergency. These signs meet the requirements of BS9999:2008 – Code of practice for fire safety in the design, management and use of buildings.

Health and safety signs regulations

The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) – Regulations 1996, requires employers to ensure that safety signs are provided (or are in place). The safety signs should be maintained in circumstances where there is a significant risk to health and safety that has not been removed or controlled by other methods.

The Regulations implement European Council Directive 92/58/EEC on minimum requirements for the provision of safety signs at work. The Directive standardises safety signs throughout member states of the European Union (EU) so that wherever a particular safety sign is seen it provides the same message. The intention is that workers moving from site to site, such as service engineers, will not be faced with different signs at different workplaces.

There are viewing distance guides available on our safety sign buying guide page. These assist in determining the appropriate size of safety signs under various light conditions.
