According to HSE statistics1, 4% of construction workers suffered work-related illness and 3% sustained a work-related injury, amounting to 66,000 self-reported non-fatal workplace injuries. Of these, 23% were Slips, Trips and Falls; 22% were from Lifting and Handling; 20% were falls from height and 11% were struck by an object.
These injuries resulted in some 2.2 million lost working days.
